A record that Italy must be proud of is certainly the one concerning the waste recycling, which sees it excels with 79% of the total amount produced, double than the other EU countries. This is one of the many data reported by the document “Italy in 10 selfies. An economy on a human scale to face the future”, created by the Symbola Foundation in collaboration with Unioncamere and Assocamerestero together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the one of Ecological Transition. Precious information that narrates an Italy capable of working well in strategic sectors for the future of the entire planet. They range from leadership in the world of renewable energies, in second place in the export of technologically advanced green products, in first place in Europe for the number of design companies, to the best worldwide result for trade balance in the nautical sector.
Enel is also mentioned, considered by this document to be the most capitalized private electricity company on European stock exchanges, but there are also 432 thousand companies that invested in green and sustainable technologies from 2015 to 2019. An important role is then the all-European one relating to pharmaceutical production, with 32.2 billion euros, just below the German primacy. This area is very important in light of the pandemic period and the vaccination campaign that will continue in the coming months.
Not forgetting the agricultural sectors, which see the country engaged in reducing emissions by up to 30 million tons of CO2, data very different from neighboring Germany (66 million) or France (76 million); to this is added the wood sector, with 93% of chipboard panels made of recycled wood and, finally, another great challenge of tomorrow, the urban mobility sector. In fact, almost 1 million and 800 thousand bicycles are sold abroad, a figure that leads the nation to be the leading European exporter.
