EnvironmentSANITIZE WATER

It is an experimental project for the sanitization of water networks, the one started this year at the beginning of July at the aqueduct of San Colombano di Lambro, Borghetto Lodigiano, Chignolo Po and Miradolo Terme and carried out by Gruppo CAP, the company that manages the water in the metropolitan city of Milan.

To allow this, the use of monochloramine, a disinfectant already used in North America and other European countries and analyzed through specific studies that lasted a few months also here in Italy.

The substance has the ability to make the water quality standard very high, and it is also odourless and tasteless, so it is perfect to sanitise it according to the required standards. Citizens have been warned: at first the water will take on a yellowish colour, which makes it drinkable anyway, but it will be enough to leave the tap open to obtain normal clarity, as often happens after a period of inactivity of the water system.

Monochloramine will be produced by the potabilization plant in Località Casoni, in a place designed for this purpose. The CAP Group has also already set up sampling systems to monitor the sanitization and intervene in case of dosage adjustment. The aim of the project is to improve water quality and offer the Metropolitan City a better offer from a technical point of view, in order to adopt the ideal solution.

    Ecologiasanificazione reti idriche
