There are a thousand representative cases of the Italian population taken as samples for the research “Italian and Sustainability”, carried out by ASSIRM (Associazione Italiana Ricerche di mercato, sociali, di opinione; Italian Association for Market, Social and Opinion Researches) for the second edition, at the end of 2019.
The data obtained focused on the three main aspects of the theme: environmental, economic and social sustainability. Three different but crucial and interconnected areas: the first concerns the modus operandi for a good practice of environmental protection in the long term, the second focuses on the economic aspect of the theme, what is therefore able to generate income and work, the third concerns the idea of sustainability made of relationships and well-being based on the correct approach to the issue.
It is clear that climate change and related problems have also become a major problem in Italy. For this reason, according to Italians, it is essential to turn their attention to the environment first of all (21%), energy (19%) and development (11%). Among the main topics where to focus for change are building development (82%), industrial growth according to a fair and solidarity-based perspective (77%), while keeping an eye on social welfare (74%) and equal opportunities (73%).
Among the less satisfactory aspects, on the other hand, the one concerning the consequences of the movement founded by Greta Thunberg “Friday For Future”, which did not lead to the expected and hoped for institutional changes. However, it is to be recognized the mediatic echo and the social cope, understood precisely through social networks and the media, which, however, remains for many still not transparent and impartial.
