EcologiaTecnologiaoperaio bonifica sito contaminato

  • uso di reagenti economici ed ecocompatibili;
  • possibilità di controllare la zona di formazione dei nanometalli, la posizione della zona reattiva e la qualità del colloide depositato;
  • riduzione dei costi;

  • produzione di nanomateriali supportati;
  • trattamento di acqua e aria;
  • produzione di mezzi filtranti catalitici e fotocatalitici;
  • rigenerazione di nanoparticelle metalliche zerovalenti contenute in mezzi filtranti;
  • recupero degli idrocarburanti.

EnvironmentTechnologyworker at remediation of contaminated site

In order to safeguard the environment and people’s health, it is necessary to proceed with the remediation of polluted areas and eliminate the harmful substances present in accordance with the legal limits.
In this context, the Polytechnic of Turin has developed three patents to reclaim contaminated sites through the use of metal micro and / or nanoparticles.

The first patent provides for the application of the Nanotune technology, which allows to control the transport and deposition of colloidal suspensions in porous media by injecting them into the subsoil together with a destabilizing agent. This method is mainly used for the treatment of contaminated groundwater.

The second patent concerns the CoMET technology: through a chemical reduction of metal salts in an aqueous environment by means of reducing agents, the synthesis of zerovalent metal micro and nanoparticles takes place. It is a low cost technology with a low environmental impact.

Finally, the third patent has as its protagonist the AquiRem technology, which allows micro and / or nanoparticles and coatings containing zerovalent metals to be formed and deposited in filter media. Their synthesis takes place inside the filter medium through the chemical reduction of metal ions. To do this, low cost eco-compatible inorganic reducing agents are used.

These patents bring several advantages, including:

  • use of inexpensive and environmentally friendly reagents;
  • possibility of controlling the nanometals formation zone, the position of the reactive zone and the quality of the deposited colloid;
  • costs reduction;
  • simplification of remediation at a technical level.

However, these patents are not only applicable during the remediation of contaminated sites, but also apply in other fields, including:

  • production of supported nanomaterials;
  • water and air treatment;
  • production of catalytic and photocatalytic filter media;
  • regeneration of zero-valent metal nanoparticles contained in filter media;
  • recovery of hydrocofuels.
